The Mantleclaw is a colossal decapod crustacean superspecies (Decapod Megafauna) indigenous to the rugged basalt shorelines and volcanic reefs of Skull Island in the MonsterVerse. Protected by an 18-meter-wide volcanic carapace studded with jagged lithic spines that flawlessly simulate wet coastal boulders, and armed with asymmetrical hydraulic crushing pincers, the Mantleclaw is a lethal subterranean ambush predator. In the prologue of *Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023, Episode 1)*, as Monarch co-founder Bill Randa desperately flees across a Skull Island beach in 1973, a titanic Mantleclaw erupts from the sand and engages in a ferocious battle against a pursuing juvenile Skullcrawler.
