Centuries of ingesting mineral-dense volcanic sand saturated with Hollow Earth radiation spurred the Mantleclaw's chitinous exoskeleton to calcify into dense basaltic rock, enabling it to withstand crashing tsunamis and heavy blunt impacts from rival apex predators.

While escaping the island's terrors, Bill Randa cast his satchel of Monarch research into the surf just as a Mantleclaw broke surface. The crustacean flared its massive claws to battle an encroaching Skullcrawler, trading savage blows until the serpentine predator managed to flip the crab and penetrate its vulnerable abdominal underside.

• Basaltic Lithic Carapace: Broad, 18-meter stone-like dorsal shell mottled in charcoal-gray and mossy umber, encrusted with barnacles and jagged mineral ridges.

Extremely sensitive to seismic vibrations traversing wet beach sand. Instantly erupts into an aggressive display when intruders trespass within its coastal perimeter.

Like modern crustaceans, its softer ventral underside lacks heavy rock armor, leaving it fatally vulnerable if upended by agile predators like Skullcrawlers.

The Mantleclaw serves as the explosive opening set-piece for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, immediately setting a visceral tone for the live-action television expansion.
