Mothra is the worshipped ancestral deity of Infant Island—a secluded South Pacific tropical sanctuary irradiated by covert postwar atomic tests, yet miraculously sustained by mutated lush vegetation and Mothra's divine aura.

According to ancient tribal liturgy, Mothra exists beyond mortality through an eternal cycle of reincarnation: whenever an adult specimen reaches the end of its natural lifespan or perishes in combat, an enormous patterned egg hatches the next generation of larvae to sustain her eternal vigil.

Mothra shares a profound telepathic and spiritual bond with the Shobijin (Cosmos / Fairy Priestesses), twin miniature maidens standing merely 30 centimeters tall. When unscrupulous capitalist promoters abducted the fairies to Tokyo for commercial exploitation, their sorrowful sacred hymn "Mosura no Uta" (Song of Mothra) resonated across thousands of miles.
