Godzilla vs. Kong

Years after Godzilla defeated King Ghidorah, the Alpha Titan begins attacking facilities operated by Apex Cybernetics, leading humanity to believe that he has turned against them. Meanwhile, Monarch transports Kong away from Skull Island and uses him to locate Hollow Earth, the ancient world connected to the origins of the Titans. Their mission places Kong directly in Godzilla's path, resulting in devastating battles at sea and in Hong Kong. Behind the conflict, however, Apex is secretly developing Mechagodzilla using technology linked to the remains of Ghidorah, ultimately forcing the two rival Titans to fight together against a greater artificial threat.

Godzilla vs. Kong is the fourth theatrical installment of Legendary's MonsterVerse, directed by Adam Wingard and released in the United States on March 31, 2021. Following Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the earlier Kong: Skull Island, the film brings the franchise's two primary Titans into direct conflict for the first time within this continuity. Godzilla has established himself as the world's Alpha Titan, while Kong remains under Monarch observation on an increasingly unstable Skull Island. When Apex Cybernetics secretly begins developing Mechagodzilla, Godzilla detects the emerging threat and attacks the company's facilities. At the same time, Nathan Lind, Ilene Andrews, Jia and an Apex-sponsored expedition transport Kong to Antarctica so that he can guide them into Hollow Earth. There, Kong discovers remnants of an ancient Titan civilization and a battle axe capable of absorbing energy associated with Godzilla's species. After major confrontations between Godzilla and Kong, Apex activates Mechagodzilla through a neural system connected to the remains of King Ghidorah. Other notable creatures include Warbats, a Skullcrawler and Hellhawks. The movie establishes Hollow Earth as a central setting of the MonsterVerse and directly prepares the mythology later expanded in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
